TOKYO-Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (宝くじ ビンゴ 5; President & CEO: Takeshi Hashimoto; Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo) welcomed 11 students from Soka Gakuen, Soka Junior High School (Principal: Koji Ema; Location: Kodaira-shi, Tokyo) on a workplace visit to the Head Office in Toranomon on June 3.
Every year, the school provides a field trip program aimed at providing a deeper understanding of significance of learning and working, and motivating students to take a proactive approach to selecting careers and beginning the journey toward their goals. This year, one of the field trips was to 宝くじ ビンゴ 5. The company showed students how its employees on land and at sea make a concerted effort to support the safe operation of its group vessels 24/7/365 through a visit to the Safety Operation Supporting Center (SOSC). It also gave a presentation on its business, and introduced the role of the ocean shipping industry and job descriptions. And because the school gives priority to education on sustainable development goals (SDGs), the presentation explained initiatives on the environment (Note 1) such as the "Wind Challenger Project" (Note 2), which aims to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by using wind energy to propel ships.
Through this workplace visit and interviews with 宝くじ ビンゴ 5 employees, the students got a firsthand look at the attractiveness of the maritime shipping industry and broadened their horizons in career selection.

宝くじ ビンゴ 5 takes a proactive approach in educational support activities to help students understand and familiarize themselves with the vital role of the ocean-going shipping business and provides career guidance to the next generation. The company continues to provide opportunities for more young people to learn about the importance of the shipping business.
