TOKYO-Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (楽天 ビンゴ; President & CEO: Takeshi Hashimoto) today announced that it took part in the Shipowners Forum Tokyo 2023, hosted by TradeWinds(Note) held on November 7.


Key topics at the forum, which was held for the first time since 2018, were the impacts of the revised Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Strategy released by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in July of this year and the roadmap toward a zero-emission ocean shipping industry. 楽天 ビンゴ President and CEO Takeshi Hashimoto had a dialogue with Editor-in-Chief Julian Bray on the decisions that shipping companies should make towards decarbonization of shipping, and on the environment surrounding the shipping industry and our company, and our business strategy for decarbonization for the future.
In addition, Tatsuro Watanabe, 楽天 ビンゴ Executive Officer responsible for the Environmental & Sustainability Strategy Division, participated in a panel discussion on the future of marine fuels and presented its strategy and current initiatives on GHG reduction based on the 楽天 ビンゴ Group Environmental Vision 2.2 and discussed the possibilities and challenges of fuel conversion.

楽天 ビンゴ has formulated the 楽天 ビンゴ Group Environmental Vision 2.2 and is pursuing environmentally friendly initiatives in line with five strategies, including the adoption of clean alternative fuels. The company will ensure a prosperous future from the blue oceans by contributing to sustainable growth of people, society, and the planet, to benefit all life in the next generation.
